The Doings - October 20, 2009
With the official filing period beginning next week for candidates interested in running for the 41st House District, a handful of individuals are already knee deep in campaigning.
Currently represented by Republican Bob Biggins, the 41st District is made up of portions of Elmhurst, Oakbrook, Oakbrook Terrace, Westchester, LaGrange Park and Hinsdale.
Biggins announced earlier this year he will step down, opening the door for a mix of political newcomers and longtime elected officials.
Elmhurst residents Chris Nybo and Brien Sheahan may be some of the more recognizable names in the race.
Nybo represents the 5th Ward on the Elmhurst City Council. He also has served as an Elmhurst Fire and Police Commissioner and on the DuPage County Zoning Board.
"I have always believed that public service can make a difference in improving people's lives. As alderman, I have had first-hand experience with balancing budgets and initiating public safety improvements," he said in an e-mail.
